Training
Ways to train whatever your fitness level
Race for Life is not a competitive event. It’s about women of
all ages and fitness levels coming together to raise money to help to beat cancer.
Some women don’t do any training for their Race for Life event,
but it is healthier and safer to do some exercise before the
day.
That’s why Lucy Wyndham-Read, celebrity women’s fitness expert
and founder of LWR Fitness, has developed four training plans to
help you prepare:
Personal training sessions on your iPod
Lucy has created two workout albums especially for Race for
Life.
Lucy gives you the personal trainer experience with
a six-week plan of instructions, motivation and plenty of
training tips all set to upbeat music tracks.
Each week has a different challenge so you’ll never get bored.
The workouts start with 12 minutes training sessions in week one
and slowly build up to 25 minute training sessions by the end of
the six weeks.
The workout albums for
beginner walkers and
beginner runners are available for download from iTunes for
£4.49.

Take on the 10k challenge
If you're ready to take up a challenge to double your distance,
there is a 10k option available at selected Race for Life events
across the UK. Find out if there is
a Race for Life 10k event near you.
If you are taking part in a 10k event, it is highly recommended
that you do train.
Important note: we advise you to check with your doctor before
starting any type of exercise programme. If you, or any member of
your family have diabetes, high/low blood pressure, a history of
heart disease or high cholesterol, you must obtain clearance from
your doctor.
